David R. Garcia

David R. Garcia is a Professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University. Garcia’s professional experience includes extensive work in state and national education policy development and implementation. His research interests include school choice, accountability and research utilization. His research has appeared in numerous journals including Teachers College Record, Educational Policy and the Peabody Journal of Education. He has authored two books, School Choice (2018) and Teach Truth to Power: How to Engage in Education Policy (2021), both published by the MIT Press. In 2018, David was the Democratic candidate for Governor of Arizona. He graduated from Arizona State University and received his doctorate from the University of Chicago.
