The EdCan Network is seeking leaders, innovators, and connectors to join our National Advisory Council. This is an opportunity to contribute your voice and expertise to one of Canada’s most respected education organizations while collaborating with leaders from across the country to address the most pressing opportunities and challenges facing K–12 education.
Founded in 1891 by Canadian teachers’ organizations, the EdCan Network (Canadian Education Association) is a bilingual national charitable organization representing more than 140,000 education professionals. We connect educators, system leaders, ministries of education, unions, professional associations, researchers, and community partners to advance learning and wellbeing in schools across Canada. As a member of the National Advisory Council, you will:

Council members serve as ambassadors for EdCan, helping extend the Network’s reach, influence, and impact within their professional communities.
Who We Are Looking For
The Nominations Committee is prioritizing the recruitment of diverse leaders and emerging voices who are committed to collaboration and to building a thriving education ecosystem in Canada. We are particularly interested in individuals who bring an entrepreneurial mindset, strong professional networks, and expertise that can help advance EdCan’s mission and long-term sustainability. Advisory Council members serve a three-year term, and are eligible to serve a second three-year term.
Ideal candidates will:
- Demonstrate a commitment to EdCan’s mission and values.
- Serve as champions and ambassadors for the organization.
- Identify opportunities, partnerships, connections, and resources that can support EdCan’s growth and impact.
- Participate in four virtual Advisory Council meetings annually, with occasional requests for advice, expertise, or referrals.

We are especially seeking individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Systems Change and Educational Transformation
- Effective Pedagogy and Learning Innovation
- Business Development
- Government and Stakeholder Relations
- Membership Growth, Retention, Marketing, and Value Propositions
- Corporate Partnerships and Sponsorships
- Fund Development and Philanthropy
