Communications Specialist (Volunteer)

EdCan supports the work of education professionals by curating, synthesizing, and mobilizing research and practice-based expertise and by connecting educators, researchers and partner organizations to enhance learning and wellbeing in Canada’s schools and school systems.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

The EdCan Network is recruiting a communications specialist to enhance awareness and expand the reach and impact of our content and events.

  • Approximately 10 hours per week, flexible schedule with availability for occasional meetings between 11am and 5pm Eastern Time.
  • Remote volunteer position.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Working with the Executive Director and Program Manager, Engagement, the Communications Specialist will:

  • Upload Education Canada content (articles, reports and other resources) to the websites
  • Set up virtual events and registration in Zoom and on our websites
  • Edit and publishing recordings from virtual events
  • Prepare and schedule social media posts
  • Prepare the monthly e-newsletters
  • Update websites as required
  • Monitor analytics for our communications channels

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Graphic design for reports and resources
  • Enhancing clarity and tone of written content (French and English)
  • Providing suggestions for improving reach and engagement

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALITIES

  • Demonstrated proficiency managing digital communications
  • Adept in light video and trancription editing
  • Adept using Google Analytics WordPress, Squarespace, MailChimp, Hootsuite, and Canva
  • Familiarity with Google Tag Manager and Google Ads is an asset
  • Fluent in French and English preferred
  • Experience working with Canada’s kindergarten to grade 12 education sector preferred
