Melissa Gartly

Melissa Gartly earned her BA/BEd from the University of Lethbridge after moving to rural Alberta with her husband. She taught for many years at the elementary level, served as vice-principal in a K–12 setting, and now leads as principal. Melissa is passionate about developing leaders and creating a culture where staff and students feel valued, encouraged, and connected. She believes strong school communities include all staff, students, families, volunteers, and community partners. Her philosophy centers on every student’s ability to lead and the importance of engaged, regulated learners. She is especially proud of introducing Project Citizen, a project-based learning initiative focused on service and citizenship. Outside school, Melissa enjoys time with her husband Jon and their children.
