SUMMARY:Learning from the future: New approaches for planning in an uncertain world
DESCRIPTION:One goal of education is to prepare our students for the future they will live in. But what will that future look like? \nIn this era of rapid change\, it is becoming clear that planning for the future based on what has worked in the past is insufficient. We need new tools and approaches for navigating the uncertainty. Strategic foresight is a structured and systematic approach to anticipating and preparing for possible futures. It is not about predicting the future; rather\, it’s about understanding a range of plausible futures and using that insight to guide strategy\, policy\, and long‑term planning. \nConnect with future-focused educators and explore the practice of strategic foresight in this free\, interactive workshop led by Dr. Nicole Fournier Sylvester. Dr. Fournier-Sylvester has 20 years of experience in the education sector and has led foresight research projects at Policy Horizons\, the Government of Canada’s centre of excellence in foresight.
